transactionSHUTTLE and runSHUTTLE shuttle data between Excel and SAP, and the speed and performance of these tools can be measured in SAP transactions per hour. The performance depends on several factors and varies from the high end of 10,000+ transactions per hour to the low end of hundreds of transactions per hour. The majority of our customers see speeds of 3 to 4,000 transactions per hour for common transactions.
The biggest factor affecting performance is the complexity of the transactions being mapped and the number of SAP screens that are required to complete the transaction. Even when a transaction covers numerous screens Winshuttle's tools can still upload the transaction in a few seconds.
The number of mapped fields for any transactions has little to no effect on performance, so users can produce templates of whatever size required and still see excellent performance.
The number of transactions shuttled also has no effect on the rate at which transactions are completed. At first glance, this may seem logical because each record is processed linearly. However, several tools do slow down with large numbers of transactions, due to poor memory utilization. Winshuttle does not do this, enabling users to shuttle data sets of any size.
How Does transactionSHUTTLE Affect SAP Performance?
To SAP, each client of transactionSHUTTLE acts as a single SAP user. The additional load to the SAP server is the same as adding a single SAP user. Therefore, all of the standard best practices for SAP configurations, such as tuning SAP buffers, scaling the number of work processes, configuring database parallelism, and ensuring the correct number of app servers for the user base are still relevant.
