I spent last week at SAP TechEd in Berlin talking with customers and prospects about SAP usability and process change. There was one discussion that stands out. A customer spent months of analysis and indecision (6 months to be exact) about adopting Winshuttle. However, within one week of adoption, they had already solved three usability issues – one process which was targeted in the pilot and two others they quickly automated on the fly. In retrospect, he wished they hadn’t wasted six months and started immediately, iterating the process during deployments.
Making changes personally or in business can be difficult and overwhelming. We end up thinking about all of the time, effort, and problems associated with change which paralyzes action. We’ve decided to tackle something huge – improving usability and business processes associated with SAP. Definitely overwhelming, but rather than negotiating all of the potential issues, it’s better to just start the change process and hope for the best.
