“Now SAP users can themselves automate their work using transactionSHUTTLE”
Stanis Nouet - Accounting Project Manager, Daimler, France

DaimlerChrysler is the third largest car manufacturer in the world with 2003 revenues of over 136 billion Euros and over 362,000 employees. DaimlerChrysler in France has 2400 employees with 655 SAP users of which 140 use the FI/CO module and 515 use the MM module.

DaimlerChrysler, France has been using transactionSHUTTLE since 2002 and is using this tool in many different applications.

In one application, they used transactionSHUTTLE to support their merger and acquisition activities. Existing dealers or branches were acquired and they become DaimlerChrysler subsidiaries. In these cases, the problem was to transfer large amounts of data from the acquired company’s legacy systems (or SAP systems) to DaimlerChrysler’s own SAP system. transactionSHUTTLE was selected as the tool of choice to transfer this large volume of data.

First, the customer and vendor master data were transferred by extracting the data from the acquired company’s systems into Excel files and then these Excel files were uploaded into DaimlerChrysler’s SAP system using transactionSHUTTLE. In one of the most recent loads, over 8000 customer and 400 vendor records were easily transferred. Once the master data was loaded into SAP, the appropriate SAP customer numbers were received into the Excel file via transactionSHUTTLE. The next step was to load accounting information related to all open customer or vendor accounts. The accounting information related to all open customers or vendors was extracted from the acquired company’s system into another Excel file. Using look-up functions in Excel, the customer numbers corresponding to all open accounts were determined from the master data load. Once the customer number and open account balances were available in Excel, they were then uploaded into SAP using another transactionSHUTTLE script.

The next task to support the M&A activity was to transfer the general ledger data from the acquired company’s system into DaimlerChrysler’s SAP system which was again done very easily using transactionSHUTTLE. Then the car inventory data was transferred and finally the car sales history data was transferred. The general ledger data and the car sales history data have many line items and the multi-line posting feature of transactionSHUTTLE was found to be very useful.

Another application for which DaimlerChrysler has found transactionSHUTTLE to be very useful is for entering large postings such as credit notes with over 200 line items by simply uploading this data from Excel files.

Users at DaimlerChrysler have found transactionSHUTTLE to be an extremely useful tool for many different user applications and they use this tool almost every day. They find that it is able to handle large volumes of data, and is very fast to load data. They have been able to completely eliminate errors associated with manual data entry. And finally, they have been successfully able to empower the SAP end-users to automate their work with transactionSHUTTLE.
