Winshuttle User Group 2012: Answering some existential questions

We just wrapped up the Winshuttle User Group (WUG) 2012 in Atlanta. It was an outstanding event with a large critical mass of Winshuttle users attending a high diversity of quality presentations by our customers, partners, and my Winshuttle colleagues. Customers like Coca Cola, Honeywell, REI, Philips, Kellogg’s, Microsoft, and many others presented their Winshuttle success stories. I spoke with many attendees during the event, and each and every person thought that WUG was highly valuable for them. They learned a lot of things that they would go back and apply to their organizations, hoping to get even more value… Read more

An amazing and incredible SAPPHIRE 2011

Watching the SAP CTO, Vishal Sikka, speak at Sapphire, I lost track of the number of times I heard the words – “incredible” and “amazing”. I did not mind it too much because Vishal’s enthusiasm for all aspects of technology came through those words quite clearly. Those words also made me realize that I could them to describe my own Sapphire 2011 experience. Being an independent software vendor in the SAP eco-system, Sapphire is THE most important conference/tradeshow for Winshuttle. This is where we meet many of our incredible current and prospective customers and get to show-off our amazing product… Read more

Approaches to SharePoint and SAP Integration

In my last two blog entires on SharePoint and SAP, I introduced the problems that SharePoint and SAP Integration may be able to solve. In this article, I talk about what are the different approaches available to provide this integration. There are a few different ways that SAP business processes can be exposed in SharePoint. Providing a link from SharePoint to SAP portal or providing an iView-based Web Part in SharePoint. This kind of the integration option does not really solve the problems listed in the last article — UI simplification or employee or partner enablement. Programming to connect a… Read more

SAP challenges that can be addressed by SharePoint integration

Companies that have implemented SAP face a few a common challenges that can be alleviated by a tight integration of SharePoint and SAP. This article gives some examples of such scenarios. Complex user interfaces Business processes supported by SAP require entering data into transactions that are generally quite complex and show a lot more fields and screens than are needed in the process. This problem can be solved to a large degree by exposing a simplified version of an SAP transaction on a SharePoint screen. This simplified page can contain all of the data fields required on one simple screen… Read more

Winshuttle 10 and Enterprise Application Usability

I have been talking to several current and prospective customers about Winshuttle 10 and have found that with these products we have really managed to address a pervasive customer pain point. The customers’ interest in improving SAP usability and user experience is increasing driven by one major factor. As users continue to get exposed to iPhone and Facebook-like interfaces, their patience in dealing with the ERP user-interfaces is diminishing. Customers are also realizing that usability comes at a great cost to the enterprise, a cost which most businesses can ill-afford in this economy. The solution to improving SAP usability does… Read more

Winshuttle User Group Conference – A Resounding Success!

Our first ever Winshuttle User Group conference just concluded in New Orleans, Louisiana. I’m happy to report that it was an absolute success! We’ve had in-person Winshuttle user group meetings in conjunction with Sapphire before, but this is the first one where our users expressly traveled and spent two days at our user conference. As one of the founders of the company, it was an incredible event from my view point. I was delighted to see almost 200 people representing the Winshuttle community of customers, partners, and employees coming together and spending 2 days of learning, networking, and educating. Having a dedicated… Read more
