Accounting Supervisor

Position summary

Supervises staff accountants and is responsible for direct support of the general ledger and various accounting functions, including among others, daily journal entry production and review, recognition of recurring and one-time accruals and facilitating the month-end close process through production and review of monthly journal entries and reconciliations. Plays a key role in supporting enterprise-wide initiatives and other special projects. Develop staff through performance management, goal setting, training, and effective employee relations.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Manage the A/P, A/R, G/L, and Payroll functions
  • Responsible for preparing the consolidated financial statements, including Income statement, balance sheet and cashflow for Winshuttle in accordance to GAAP.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations and reconciliations for all Winshuttle’s entities.
  • Perform technical accounting research as needed and make recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets and expenditures.
  • Collaborate with Global accounting teams to support reporting, automation, and process improvement across the Worldwide organization.
  • Manage month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Manage and coordinate the annual audit, including preparation of audit schedules as required by outside auditors.
  • Document, maintain and refine effective internal controls for audit compliance
  • Continuously evaluate processes and procedures for efficiencies and system improvements
  • Collaborate with revenue team to drive best practices
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to increase financial reporting accuracy
  • Define, lead, and drive financial initiatives in support of overall business goals, and process improvements
  • Other ad-hoc projects as assigned by Corporate Controller
  • Identifies and communicates potential risks and opportunities and emerging trends with department management. Develops responses and takes action as appropriate
  • Responds to questions about business transactions from business units or departments. Provides guidance on reporting and compliance
  • Reviews reconciliations and working papers supporting general ledger balances. Provides information and assistance to financial reporting team and outside auditors
  • Participates in business re-engineering activities to support the establishment and integration of electronic information processes and principles at the company
  • Manage, develop, mentor, and regularly assess team of direct reports
  • Oversees training and development of team directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions
  • Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve business and customer results
  • Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews
  • Develops teams and partnerships aligned with Winshuttle PACT, raises the skill level and business acumen on the team; builds a strong bench in support of succession planning
  • Ensures regional team adheres to legal and operational compliance requirements

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, CPA or CA required
  • 5+ years’ experience managing an Accounting Department
  • Vendor recommendations and management
  • Small staff management (5 years)
  • Use of the following systems: Great Plains, FRX, ADP, and Adaptive Insights desirable
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • EMEA Regional compliance knowledge
