Development Operations Engineer

Position summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Operations Engineer will deploy, support, and manage our Azure cloud platform, while improving and automating the operational processes that insure sustainability and stability of all our online applications. You will create and automate release, change, deployment, and incident processes that will enable your team to manage and sustain the production environments.  As part of the Cloud Operations team, you will work with test, systems, and software engineers to troubleshoot and resolve incidents that arise with the online application in a 24 x 7 environment.  You will utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvements within existing frameworks, tools, and processes to continuously enhance operational supportability.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Create, manage, and maintain Azure resources
  • Create, manage, and maintain Kubernetes clusters
  • Coordinate maintenance of public facing products and internal technical resources
  • Work closely with engineers, architects, and our product team to design improvements to existing and new products
  • Maintain access controls to sensitive and production resources
  • Respond to Incidents, troubleshoot and drive resolution of root cause
  • Automate repetitive, operation through PowerShell, Azure Automation, or VSTS
  • Continuously research and look to improve process and procedures

Knowledge

  • Use of development tools such as Team Foundation Server, Jira, Visual Studio Online, and Git
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming with PowerShell.
  • Deploy & manage distributed Windows environments and custom applications
  • Strong experience deploying & managing Azure resources
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with monitoring solutions like PTRG, App Insights, APM Monitoring or similar.
  • Use of networking technology and protocols
  • Self-driven, detail oriented, excellent analytical skills, a strong team player who works well with immediate and extended team and consistently puts the team above oneself
  • Ability to work well with cross organizational teams with minimal supervision
  • Strong desire to build, ability to multitask, sense of ownership and urgency
  • Certification in Microsoft Cloud Technologies

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience with software and systems architecture
  • BA/BS degree (or 5+ years’ work experience) in computer science or other related fields
  • Automation tools to drive efficiency improvements in a cloud environment
  • Azure PaaS, ideally in a SaaS environment
  • Agile & DevOps environment
