Global Payroll Manager

Reports to: Corporate Controller

Position summary

The Global Payroll Manager will be responsible for administering and managing our global payroll strategies and programs.  This individual will process our local payroll and manage the Global Payroll process using outside payroll vendors. The ideal candidate will lead compensation projects globally, help evaluate the current effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures and recommend program revisions and enhancements which are consistent with compensation compliance, trends and company objectives. This position is also responsible for ensuring thorough and accurate accounting reporting and making sure programs are consistently administered and in compliance with company policies and global compensation regulations.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Global Payroll expert and point of contact for employees, HR and management.
  • Process global payroll and sales commissions for US, Canada, France, Germany, and UK subsidiaries.
  • Act as a liaison and administrator of Winshuttle global payroll platform/system; partner with global third-party payroll providers.
  • Lead and/or support other global compensation projects and processes (i.e. pay cycle conversion, 401K audit).
  • Responsible for tracking and administration of the company commission program to ensure timely payout for our Global Sales team.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provide global compensation support for year-end analysis, annual incentive administration, merit administration, and/or other compensation processes.
  • Coordinate and administer the payment of retention and special one-time incentive payments.
  • Prepare monthly accounting reporting data and journal entry reports to the Corporate Controller.
  • Keeps apprised of global and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis reports as needed to management and HR team members.

  • Strong knowledge of compensation practices and theory; CCP designation an asset
  • Experience in global compensation & benefits program design.
  • Understanding of global equity program management including competitive trends and regulatory requirements.


  • Extensive knowledge of compensation philosophy, trends, metrics & planning.
  • Advanced Excel skills and spreadsheet analysis.
  • Critical thinking and relationship building skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and financial modeling skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-starter with the ability to resolve complex issues and problems; able to work with little supervision.


  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of Compensation or related experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a global payroll role.
  • Strong analytical skills and passion for figures
  • Pragmatic approach for problem solving
  • Familiarity with global initiatives and coordinating across multiple time zones.
