Reports to: Manager, Software Engineering

Position summary

Principal Quality Engineer requires a broad expertise or unique knowledge of the subject. With the application of his expertise he needs to drive quality decisions and he must stay abreast of advancements in related technologies. This role may also direct subordinates to complete assignments by using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Able to guide and help testing teams working on different / same products or technologies to ensure that the technologies interoperate or connect to each other appropriately. Having wide-ranging experience, this role expects to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. It also helps to provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Create and execute performance test strategy.
  • Identify and setup the performance Lab
  • Identify the key bottlenecks and root causes
  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to review and track these to closure.
  • Benchmark the applications
  • Create white papers on scaling the customer environments
  • Analyzes the data gathered from performance tests with an eye towards application performance, availability and capacity with the goals of ensuring the optimal user experience
  • Performance testing experience in Cloud Solutions
  • Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks, in particular performance impacting characteristics such as threading, pooling
  • Knowledge of networking, load balancing, and deployment in regards to high availability and redundancy.
  • Leadership Qualities, in particular communication to a wide range of technical stakeholders and senior management and the ability to mentor a team of Performance Engineers.
  • Should be able to work independently with minimum guidance/supervision.

  • Hands-on experience with performance monitoring tools.
  • Experience with diagnostics tools to identify root cause.
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing.
  • Experience in Windows environments.
  • Strong written, oral & presentation skills.
  • Good communication and customer facing skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a group while handling projects.
  • Àutomate the performance tests using tools like HP load Runner, Neo Load, Jmeter, Silk Performer, Web load etc.
  • Experience in programming languages like C# is added advantage.
  • Proven ability to understand the impact of technology on business challenges, processes, and efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to explain benefits of a technical product / solution to a client in relation to the client’s business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to work interdependently and to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to translate technical information into easy to understand language.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical information
  • Demonstrated ability to compose clear and concise technical written communication


  • BE/BTech/MCA/Equivalent degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from an accredited university or college. With 7+ years of software industry experience and successful track record in product testing. 5+ years of experience on any performance testing tool (HP Loadrunner, Jmeter, etc.).
