Sr. Development Operations Engineer

Position summary

Winshuttle is looking for a DevOps Infrastructure & Monitoring Engineer to design, implement, and automate the end-to-end application and infrastructure monitoring capabilities for our cloud-based SaaS product offerings. As part of the DevOps team, you will work closely with other engineers and software developers to analyze code to expose/enhance instrumentation, understand telemetry data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for application improvements, and drive the implementation of self-healing, proactive monitoring solutions into the product lifecycle.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Work closely with software engineering and DevOps teams to define and implement service monitoring solutions that proactively enhance and automate issue identification and resolution.
  • Perform deep investigations to isolate and solve complex performance and reliability issues for online services.
  • Managing availability, capacity, and security to provide the best ROI with given workloads and environmental requirements against the given resources.
  • Partner with engineering to build the architecture and metrics to monitor and improve Winshuttle’s SaaS application performance and maintain overall application uptime and health.
  • Build automation within a CI/CD framework AND VSTS, and design and manage IaaS in cloud
  • Build and document global practices with the global support team to triage incidents by using a fully functional escalation path with incident response following the proper channel for final resolution.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues analytically and thoroughly and assist in addressing the issues with improved process and auto-remediation; fully documented and articulated to the Global Support Organization.
  • Available for on call (24×7) as part of an escalation team

Knowledge

  • BA/BS degree in computer science or other related fields
  • Certification in Microsoft Cloud Technologies, preferred
  • Familiarity with VSTS, Jira and Agile methodologies; includes epics, stories and daily standups with scrubbing
  • Software and systems architecture
  • Infrastructure monitoring solutions like PTRG, App Insights, LogicMonitor.
  • Scripting/programming with PowerShell.
  • Deploying & managing distributed Windows environments and custom applications.
  • Deploying & managing Azure resources including automation and deployment.
  • Knowledge of Container and Orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.

Experience

  • Coding with PowerShell to manage Azure infrastructure with automation.
  • Resource and metric requirements of infrastructure and Azure Services to identify best of breed monitoring solution to support resource monitoring and alerts.
  • VSTS or TFS frameworks and working within a fully engaged Agile/Sprint practice.
  • Cloud services (preferably Azure), multi-tenant SaaS platform design and supportability, and software security development integrated into the application build process.
  • software engineering team members and ownership of translating customer and technical requirements into service architecture to meet Quality of Service.
