Position summary

The System Engineer will be responsible for deploying and supporting enterprise applications and maintaining documentation of the same. The Systems Engineer will manage the main Hyper-V Cluster environment and associated storage network. The Systems Engineer will manage the enterprise network, including switches, wireless access points, and firewalls. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will assist in the planning, design, implementation and operation of IT projects. They will also be responsible for software and workstation maintenance and patching with an emphasis on automating solutions in those areas. The Winshuttle IT team is a collaborative group that requires a teammate willing to also handle basic user requests.

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Provide support by troubleshooting Servers, Server Hardware, OS, applications, Citrix, F5, peripherals, network connectivity problems. ​
  • Responsible for managing virtual infrastructure including Private cloud and deploying new virtual machines and managing image library.
  • Training Winshuttle employees in the use of Windows and all standard business software deployed on employee computers including creation of knowledge base articles and instructional documents.
  • Responsible for deployment, maintenance and support of applications.
  • Monitor and optimize performance for enterprise applications deployed by Winshuttle.
  • Manage corporate data backups.
  • Creativity and ability to perform job functions independently is required. Must be able to recognize and support the rapidly changing business requirements for a fast-growing company.

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with all levels of Employees.
  • Ability to operate independently when provided with objectives and prioritized tasks.
  • High level of proficiency with System Center, Private Cloud, Hyper-V Cluster, Storage technologies, networking technologies, backup solutions, systems monitoring, Citrix, ADFS, Exchange, SharePoint, Office 365, SQL Server, F5, PowerShell and Azure is highly desirable.
  • Requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, strong multi-tasking ability, ability to work as part of a multi-faceted team and high level of professionalism

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar
  • A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in IT Admin or Engineer role
  • Desired Certifications: MCSE, MCP, MCITP, CCNA
  • 5+ years previous experience managing an Active Directory based Windows domain.
  • 4-5 Years previous experience managing Hyper-V Cluster, SAN, System Center and Private Cloud.
  • Systems: Windows Servers, Windows 7/8/10, SharePoint, Hyper-V.
