Reports to: Director, Information Security and Cloud Operations

Position summary

Under the direction of the Director, Information Security & CloudOps, the System Engineer will be a remote technical resource for the DevOps team responsible for configuring and administering business critical applications and systems in Azure.  The Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support for the Developers, Engineers and the DevOps team.  The Systems Engineer will provide Tier 1 support for issues that are identified and will work with the DevOps staff to support problem management efforts.

  • Windows Updates, Research & Report on New Updates for Viability
    • Create documentation and reports
  • Windows Updates Installations
    • Review and document new patches and upgrades
    • Troubleshoot patching and uninstall when required
  • Azure VM Creation and Resource Audit
    • Confirm appropriate allocation and document removal
    • Network & Resource Audits
  • Network & System Documentation
  • Backup, Replication & DR Maintenance, Admin & Verification
  • Security Compliance, Auditing & Maintenance
  • OS Maintenance & Admin Tasks
    • AD administration
    • System Service Configuration (some examples)
      • SQL Server
      • RDS
      • SharePoint
      • CA management
    • Tier 1 Tickets & Triage: Working with Engineering, Dev, Support & BizOps.
    • Connect Log Retrieval for internal requests
    • Setup, Maintenance & Testing of Monitoring Systems
    • Account Creation/Deletion
    • Access Control and documentation
    • Cloud/Container Services Admin & Monitoring
    • 3rd Party Escalations

Knowledge

  • Certifications desired: MCSE, MCP, MCITP, CCNA, CCNP, ECS, ECE, ACE, PCNSE
  • 3+ years previous experience managing Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy.
  • 3+ years previous experience with Hyper-V, Windows Server, SharePoint, SQL Server
  • Previous experience with Azure and Office 365 very desirable
  • Networking: IPv4, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS,
  • Ability to operate independently and prioritize workload according to departmental objectives.
  • Requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, strong time management skills, ability to work as part of a multi-faceted team and high level of professionalism.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar.
